Since I wanted to reach my home by PM3:00, I started at AM6:30 from Fukushima station(pic.1). Today’s route was simple. Just go South along a big street like R-4, dropping in Nihonmatsu castle ruin in the middle. For 30min I cycled on the prefetcural R-362 and it joined R-4 after 15km(pic.3).
The road was wide but many big tracks were running though it was Sunday morning. Sometimes the width for bicycle was not enough. And unexpectedly there were many up and downs.
The route was just boring without Nihonmatsu castle ruin. It was located at the right hand side of R-4 from Fukushima after 15min of diverging from R-4. The entrance gate of the castle(pic,5-1) was not so high place. It had a marverous stone walls(pic.5-2) and very old pine trees(pic.5-3) near the gate.
The main tower ruin is located at very high place, but I wanted to climb there (by walk) since this castle had been selected as one of the top 100 best castles in Japan.
There were many steps toward the top foundation, so when I reached the top, I was mesmerized to see the 360C beautiful landscape(pic.5-4, 5-5). Now I understood why this castle was selected.
After resuming cycling on R-4, it was still boring. I felt the final 20km seemed tough since it was too boring and had many up & downs. So without Nihonmatsu, I don’t recommend this route.
