To reach Yonago airport by AM9:00, I started the hotel at 5:00AM. It was sunny and I could expect seeing Mt.Daisen, the highest mountain in Chugoku area.
Kurayoshi city is relatively in the inland but there was only one way, R-9, to reach Yonago city. In 30min after starting, Mt.Daisen could be seen far away(pic.3).
Then after 40min cycling on a boaring road(pic.4), Mt.Daisen came in front of me(pic.5). The road went between the coast and the skirt of Mt.Daisen, so Mt. Daisen can be seen for over 1.5hrs on left hand side.
Though it was still at 6:30AM, the temperature was already over 30C, so I had to search a shadow on my way since R-9 didn’t have any high structure.
Gradually on the far right ahead, a land tied island could be seen(pic.7). The tombolo connected to the island is one of the biggest one in Japan. So the brackish lake surrounded by tombolo is also one of the biggest one which nurtures freshwater clam. I’ll see that lake and enjoy the clam in my next trip.
From point.9 (pic.9) to the airport, I didn’t feel anything due to the heat, just cycling along the busy R-9 and sometimes feeling danger of trucks. At the cross with R-431, I turned right to the airport. The final 15km was very tough though it was flat.
It was my first experience to get on board an airplane with my bike. I’ll write how to carry it by flight in my page “How to carry bikes". There was nothing special except for informing in advance that I carried a bike and giving up carrying sprays like lubricant. No special payment for me.
After landing Haneda airport (Tokyo), my bike came out from a special exit.
